Description
Whitby abbey in North Yorkshire, UK. The relics of Whitby Abbey, Originally a monastery on ground given by King Oswiu for the people of Whitby to worship. There are a 199 steps leading from Whitby harbor to the abbey the steps were originally made of wood. In 1897 Bram Stoker was on holiday in Whitby and while sitting on the beach looked up at this incredible abbey, then looked at the wreck of the Russian ship called the Dimitry and was inspired to write the novel Dracula. There are vampire and gothic weekends throughout the year. The best fish and chips are at the Magpie restaurant on the harbor, Whitby is still a working fishing port, well worth a visit.
